When one of you saves and one spends
Different styles can balance each other.
It's common for one partner to be more careful and the other more relaxed about money. Neither is wrong, and the combination can work well with a few agreements.
What helps
- Agree on shared priorities first, then on how much is "free" for each of you
- Give each person personal spending money with no questions asked
- Automate savings, so the saver isn't policing the spender
- Agree a purchase amount above which you check with each other
